MEMBERSHIP:
The Wyoming Environmental Health Association (WEHA) membership is made up of
individuals from the Food and Drug Administration, Wyoming Department of Health,
Wyoming Department of Agriculture, Wyoming City/County Health Departments and
Wyoming Public Health Nursing. This varied group of individuals provides an
excellent cross-section of knowledge and expertise to confront day to day issues
concerning public health and the environment. A business, company, corporation
or association with a general interest in the Wyoming or National Associations,
their objectives and purposes, may join WEHA as a sustaining member and advertise
in our quarterly newsletter. Sustaining members are non-voting members.
AFFILIATIONS:
WEHA is affiliated with the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) and
the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP). Both these organizations
are dedicated to providing the Environmental Health Professionals of WEHA with the
knowledge and expertise needed to perform their duties in a professional manner.
SEMINARS:
Each year WEHA sponsors seminars on food safety, swimming pool operation and
maintenance, daycare operation, an annual education conference and other educational
seminars as the need arises. The speakers for these educational conferences are
experts in their fields and are recruited not only from Wyoming but from other states,
the nations capital, and Canada. WEHA is currently planning for the Fall 2003 Annual
Education Conference. In addition, WEHA has collaborated with the University of
Wyoming to create a food safety program. This program called Going for the Gold,
was developed to provide various levels of food safety training to food service employees.
The food safety training varies from a basic level training class to a manager certification
class. WEHA works closely with the Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association, the Wyoming
Beef Council, and the Agricultural Extension Offices to provide educational seminars that
will benefit their clientele.
